Understanding Depression
Depression means feeling low in mood
and experiencing several problems like fatigue, reduced motivation,
poor concentration, reduced appetite, difficulty sleeping or
suicidal thoughts. These might mean you have depression if they've
lasted for more than two weeks.
Use the PHQ to see how relevant these
are to you.
You might also have noticed some other
changes, such as:
- Feeling less
sociable than usual, or isolating yourself
- Feeling
emotionally numb or empty
- Being
unusually irritable with others
- Not enjoying
things as you usually would
- Feeling guilty, worthless or that you are “not
good enough"
- Everything seems more of an
effort
- Feeling more tearful than usual
- Reduced interest in sex
- You might have
thoughts that life is not worth living or be thinking of suicide
